July 27, 2002 - DR. PARKUS TALKS, AVISHAI RAVIV DOESN'T, IF ONLY PERES WOULDN'T
An essential eye-witness to the July 4th Los Angeles Airport shooting
contacted me and we had an eye-opening talk. Dr. David Parkus, the
courageous physician who first helped hold down the assumed killer Heshem
Hadayet and then tended the wounded and dying, described what he saw at LAX.
DP: I was waiting in the Singapore Air line across from El Al when I
heard three or four shots. I turned around and saw a stocky man about eight
feet away from the El Al counter shoot at the counter. People hit the floor
and he was about the only one standing. A well-built El Al employee rushed
the shooter and fought with him over the gun. A couple of seconds later,
another El Al security man rushed the shooter and shot him in the flank. He
was wrestled to the ground and I ran to the scene and helped hold the
shooter to the floor. I saw a knife fall from his body while he was still
resisting, then I felt him go limp.
BC: Witnesses saw a blonde man with a pony tail shoot as well. The
police insisted he was 52 years old. One witness phoned an Israeli radio
program minutes after the incident, while another worked at the Mexicana
Air counter next to El Al. Did you see him?
DP: Not at all. But the first El Al security man had long blonde, wavy
hair. He fought for the gun. From the point of view of Mexicana Air and
elsewhere it could have looked like he was the shooter.
BC: Was he about 52 years old?
DP: No, he was in his twenties.
BC: Could he have been mistaken for a 52 year old?
DP: No, he looked his age.
BC: People heard between 12 and 15 shots and were certain, at least
some, came from this 52 year old blonde. Others saw a man of this
description taken away in a squad car and LAPD initially announced that a
suspected accomplice was under arrest. What do you make of this?
DP: First of all, people got mixed up. There were no more than eight
shots by the shooter and the second El Al security officer who rushed him,
combined. One or two of these shots came during the struggle for the gun
with the blonde security man. Even the reporters mixed up facts. In most
reports they got it right. I saw the shooter wearing a grey sports jacket
and pinkish shirt. One reporter had me saying he was wearing a blue blazer
or shirt. What I said was the blonde El Al guard who fought the shooter
wore a blue shirt. That's who people must have seen shooting.
BC: Can you be certain that there wasn't an older lookalike who played
some sort of role in the incident?
DP: No, I only had a limited viewpoint, from the floor of the airport.
However, I must admit there were strange things. Where were the LAPD
policemen? Why was I holding the shooter without any police help? They
didn't come to the scene. Not only that, when I returned to LAX from my
trip, I sat in the bar on the second floor, above the El Al counter. A
waitress told me there was always a an airport security man stationed there
watching over the El Al counter. Where was he that day? And there's more;
the FBI tried to confiscate the photos my brother took of the shooter. It's
a good thing he handed the film over to the Los Angeles Times or there
would be no record of the incident. Now that makes no sense. I don't
believe for a second that the airport surveillance cameras didn't record
the whole thing. Why isn't the film being released?
BC: I am now ready to accept the likelihood that the blonde El Al
security man wearing the blue shirt was the second shooter people mistook
for the real shooter. But you saw a man waiting patiently in line and only
shooting when he was eight feet from the counter. Does that sound like a
terrorist to you? If he had wanted to kill as many people as possible,
wouldn't he have stood parallel to the line and blasted everyone he could?
DP: I thought about that. There is a phenomenon in America called,
"suicide by cops." There are people who provoked policemen into killing
them. If that isn't the answer, then it looks more like the shooter was
after someone than trying to commit mass murder. But I can't know the
motive, I can only know what I saw.

THE RAVIV TRIAL CIRCUS
Attorney Doron Sheftel said it best in Makor Rishon: "The Shabak are
saying that Avishai Raviv didn't tell them about Yigal Amir's proclamations
that Yitzhak Rabin had to die. It is an insult to our intelligence but the
judges are going to buy it. Raviv was beyond doubt of any but the blindest
of our people, a Shabak provocateur whose role was to incriminate all
opposed to the Oslo Accords. And there is no hope of this circus of a trial
coming anywhere near to revealing that truth."
How right he is! Two of Raviv's handlers "Kfir", Khezi Kalo and
"Adin", Eli Barak boldly perjured themselves this week. Read the following
report from the Itim News Agency:
Shin Bet: Raviv didn't realize how dangerous Yigal Amir was
By Itim
Avishai Raviv's handler believed that Raviv was unaware of Yigal Amir's
intention to kill former prime minister Yitzhak Rabin, according to
testimony given Monday by
Kfir, Raviv's handler, at opening of Raviv's trial Monday.
Publication of the handler's testimony was permitted after portions were
censored by the Shin Bet.
Also Monday, the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court issued a subpoena instructing
the Prisons Service to bring Amir's brother, Hagai, to court Thursday to
testify in the case
despite his objection.
Raviv's handler told the court that the Shin Bet had found discrepancies
between the information passed on by Raviv regarding Yigal Amir following a
meeting the two had in
August before the murder, and the information passed on by Raviv just hours
after the assassination. The handler said, nevertheless, that based on his
acquaintanceship with Raviv, had the latter known of Amir's intentions, he
would have informed the Shin Bet.
Raviv began working as a Shin Bet agent in 1987 at the age of 20, and Kfir
was his handler from 1992 until after Rabin's murder. Parallel to his
activities for the Shin
Bet, Raviv was also active in the Kach movement and headed the Eyal
movement; he moved to Kiryat Arba in 1994 and remained in contact with his
handlers on a daily basis.
In his testimony, Kfir said that Raviv served as an agent against a group
with which he identified. Asked how that was possible, Kfir said: "The
explanation is that it doesn't go together. I don't think that he lived
with some sort of internal conflict without the ability to settle it. The
lack of a solution allowed him to work along both lines, to be active among
the target and to tell us about the activities he sometimes initiated."
Kfir said that Raviv had first mentioned Amir's name to the Shin Bet in
March 1995. From the information he had passed on, Amir had been behind
student activities on the
Bar-Ilan University campus that were aimed at strengthening the settlement
enterprise in the territories on the backdrop of the Oslo process.
"Avishai spoke about Yigal's intentions to organize a group of serious
students who were interested in doing things. We didn't really understand
what activities he was talking about, and we didn't understand who the
students were and what 'serious' meant...Despite the debriefings, we were
unable to get to anything more concrete."
Kfir was summoned to speak to Raviv shortly after the shooting. "One of the
first things I did was to to call the defendant [Raviv] so that he could be
on stand by because it became clear to us pretty quickly that the shooter
was Yigal Amir."
But Raviv's testimony regarding Amir after the murder was unlike his
reports that he had submitted a few months earlier. "He described him as an
extreme individual of a
different degree... He also described how [Amir] had justified the actions
of [Baruch] Goldstein."
Following his report, Raviv agreed to be remanded in custody for 48 hours,
during which he was placed in a cell, as an undercover Shin Bet agent, with
other individuals suspected of involvement in the murder.
Kfir told the court that he had never heard Amir speak of murdering the
prime minister.
*** So Kalo and Barak never heard Raviv mention Amir's intention to murder
Rabin??? We previously caught them in their lies but only the newspaper
Hatsofe exposed the perjury for what it was.
Last October, I received a huge stack of once secret documents.
Included was Raviv's testimony to the police on the night of the
assassination. He told the police that he had heard Amir declare his
intentions to murder Rabin "on numerous occasions." I gave the testimony to
Dr. David Khen who passed it on to Hagai Huberman of Hatsofe. After
reporting on Kalo's bald-faced lying testimony, Raviv's police
interrogation was printed with the rather obvious comment that Kalo had
lied to the judges of the current Raviv trial. But will Kalo be charged
with perjury? Come on people, this is Israel!!
Now, on to the surprise of the trial. Since polls now reveal that more
than half of Israelis believe or suspect Yigal Amir did not murder Rabin,
that would explain why he was not called as a key witness in this trial.
Instead, his brother Hagai was called to the stand. One perceptive reader
had high hopes for Hagai but they were dashed in a most unexpected way. ***
Tomorrow's likely to be one of the "circus days" in Avishai Aviv's
trial.
Hagai Amir, brother of Yigal Amir, is about to testify in court. The
tactical beauty of his summons to court is that it was made by the
prosecution. Hence, the content of his testimony is known before Hagai
even steps into court. He will testify that Raviv did know about the
attempt to murder Rabin before the event. What deal had been cut with
Hagai Amir is really unknown, but given that the two Amir brothers
(especially Yigal) consistently refused to testify against, or
implicate, Raviv in any wrong doings, the latest move is quite a
surprise. There are few more judicially convincing moves that are taking the
symptom itself and applying it to the ailment and that's precisely what
the prosecution is hoping to do.
Eitan Peleg, Raviv's attorney, already called this move "a deplorable,
pitiful decision' (Maariv 22.7.02). If the older Amir will be in any
clear state of mind to answer questions, the opportunity is there for
Peleg to probe deeper into the affair and expose the whole sham.
Something's telling me the opportunity will be lost. As is well known,
the court has the power to summon anyone to testify in a case like this
and the main witness should have been Yigal Amir himself. So far he
wasn't summoned and that tells us what kind of court this is. It's a
Kangaroo court, hence a circus.
Expect any of the three judges involved, the presiding Amnon Cohen,
flanked by Arie Romanov and Orit Efal-Gabai to hold in "rapid due
course" a chair in the High Court. My money is on Cohen...
*** My correspondent must have been as surprised as everyone when Hagai
Amir refused to testify, stating, "I do not want to testify. The fact that
they brought me as a witness makes me think they want to conduct a fake
trial. They are not calling the right witnesses."
Three cheers and more for Hagai Amir. He must have been primed to
testify the way the state wanted and refused to for the exact right reason:
the court is not calling the right witnesses.
One minute after Rabin was shot by Yigal Amir's blank bullets, over
forty minutes before the rest of the country knew about Amir through the
media, Raviv called 38 reporters via his beeper service with the message,
"We missed this time. Next time we'll kill Rabin." A minute later Amir
Gilat of Maariv called Raviv to ask what he meant and Raviv gave him Yigal
Amir's details; where he lived, studied, served in the army. How did Raviv,
40 minutes before the rest of the country, know Amir shot at Rabin? How did
he know Amir missed? He knew because he handed him the gun with blanks. And
these witnesses, all reporters, if they had been called to testify at
Raviv's trial, would have indelibly connected the Shabak to the Rabin
assassination.
But, they weren't called and the rest is mere fiasco. ***
ALAS, PERES THE TRAITOR
About half of Israel know or suspect that Foreign Minister Shimon
Peres organized the Rabin assassination with the help of Shabak chief Carmi
Gillon. But many won't believe that he sold Jerusalem to the Vatican. This,
I and my partner reported in March 1996 in our newsletter Inside Israel.
Well people, now he's trying in earnest to complete the transaction. Read on:

formal public unveiling of the Charter. The ceremony was held in Urbino,
Italy - a town approximately 135 miles north of Rome. This "great

Ciampi. The Earth Charter website in its pre-event
coverage stated:
....."Numerous international and Italian celebrities will be in Urbino for
the ceremony; amongst them, Rita Levi-Montalcini winner of the Nobel Prize
for Medicine and Honorary President of the Italian Green Cross, Steven
Rockefeller of the international foundation of the same name, Father
Massimiliano Mizzi, General administrator of "Dialogo dell'Opera Frati

3. Secret Talks In Europe?
Foreign Minister Shimon Peres, meeting with Danish officials in Copenhagen,
was presented with the latest European Middle East peace plan today.
Denmark now holds the rotating presidency of the European Union, but its
plan is very similar to, and not meant to compete with, that which U.S.
President George Bush spoke about last month in his public address.
Highly-placed security sources have intimated that intensive negotiations
are already taking place in Europe. Israel's General Security Service head
Ami Ayalon and others are meeting with leading Arabs from Judea and
Samaria, according to the report, and on the agenda are the
internationalization of Jerusalem and a return to the 1967 borders.
Speaking on Tuesday at the new Chief-of-Staff ceremony, Prime Minister
Ariel Sharon said, "It is likely that a window of hope has opened, and we
have no intention of missing it."

Israel accepts EU peace plan
"I have huge expectations with regards to the Danish European Union
presidency and we welcome a larger rule for Europe in an effort to
re-establish peace," said Mr Peres after his meeting with Danish Foreign
Minister Per Stig Moller.

I wonder if you ever heard of the "Rome
Understanding". I read about it today for the first
time in the Italian press (La Repubblica).
You find it (probably today only, so save it) at:
The news is reported by CNN, but only in its Italian
website, at:
I couldn't find it anywhere else.
I do not know if you read Italian. In few words, it
says that Savit and Abu Ala had 4 meetings (1 day the
shortest, 4 days the longest) last Autumn in Rome
under the facilitating services of Rome's Mayor who
apparently confirmed. Peres joined them for the last
meeting.
They apparently agreed that the creation of a
Palestinian State should come at the beginning of the
negotiations and not before. This "Rome Understanding"
is similar but not identical to the one leaked half a
year ago and considered "irresponsible" by Sharon.
CNN quotes "La Repubblica" saying that the plan
includes 3 steps, which are to be performed in 2
years: mutual recognition of the 2 States, 1 year
negotiation of pending issues, 1 year execution. But I
could find only the first step in La Repubblica...

Proposal seeks to internationalize Jerusalem's Old City
By TOVAH LAZAROFF
Israeli, US, and German delegates spent yesterday fighting a surprise
proposal to internationalize Jerusalem's Old City presented by an Italian
politician at the five-day meeting in Berlin of the Organization for
Security and Cooperation in Europe, composed of parliamentarians from 55
countries.
"It came as a surprise to us," said MK Colette Avital (Labor). "We have
been working the whole evening to persuade him to take it back but we
haven't succeeded."
Rabbi Abraham Cooper, associate dean of the US-based Simon Wiesenthal
Center, who is also in Berlin, said he fears the initiative will pass when
brought before the OSCE for a vote today because it appeared to have a lot
of support yesterday.
"The head of the Italian delegation told us his main concern is that in the
future when there are peace discussions, the Palestinian entity will be
given control of the Christian Holy sites. He thinks that is not good
enough for Christians," Cooper said.
He added that the Italian politician preferred for religious reasons to
have the Old City internationally administered.

In 1947, the British were on their way out of India and Israel. They
pulled the same stunt on both countries to assure never ending conflict and
ensure their perpetual control of their former colonies. Artificial Muslim
national entities were created in Kashmir and Judea and Samaria with
borders guaranteed to be enflamed forever. And in case there was a danger
of peace quieting the regions, they placed their stooges from the Royal
Institute Of International Affairs, Council On Foreign Relations,
Tri-Lateral Commission and Bilderberg Group in charge of keeping the war
simmering to boiling.
Here is a bio of America's new Ambassador To India, previously an

at Harvard, he was Associate Dean of the Kennedy School, faculty chairman
of the School's Executive Program for U.S. and Russian General Officers; of
the School's Chinese Security Studies Program; and of the Kennedy School's
Middle East Initiative.
Special Assistant to President George Bush for European and Soviet Affairs
in 1989-90, he was awarded the Commander's Cross of the Order of Merit by
the Federal Republic of Germany for his contribution to German Unification.
He is the author of many books and articles including co-editor of
Conventional Arms Control and East-West Security (Duke University Press,

Either chutzpah or a joke
By Ze'ev Schiff
Israel may not be calling its presence and activities in the territories
an occupation, but in reality that's what it is. Ariel Sharon does not want
to get out of the Palestinian cities, while Benjamin Ben-Eliezer is afraid
of a renewed wave of terror. Both Sharon and Ben-Eliezer have in effect
rejected, each in his own way, President Mubarak's requests, brought by the
head of the Egyptian intelligence services, to withdraw from the
Palestinian cities. There is no negotiation taking place between Israel and
the Palestinians, but behind the scenes there is some activity in that
direction.
Yossi Beilin, in cooperation with the Palestinians, is back to dealing
with the refugee issue. The State Department is financing a study on the
conditions for establishing a Palestinian state based on the outline
presented by President Bush. An odd situation has arisen, because the study
has ended up in the hands of a pro-Palestinian group at the Council for
Foreign Policy in New York.
*** I have been lecturing throughout Israel this summer, every day,
sometimes twice a day. The crowds from the Dead Sea, to the Negev, to the
shores of the Kinneret average about 150 and for that I can thank, in no
small part, Rabbi Eliahu Shapira. He was one of the first rabbis to invite
me to speak, at his Yeshiva in Peduel, and he reinvited me four months ago.
He was a brave truth seeker.
This week he was murdered by terrorists on the way to his school.
When the IDF identify his murderers, a one ton bomb from an F-16 will be
far too small to eliminate them.
But identifying them will be tricky. Lately, the victims of terror in
Emmanuel, a border post near Efrat and Adora saw light complexioned
"Europeans" in IDF uniforms doing the deed. It seems, Israel has a foreign
hit squad in its midst.
Of Adora, and Telem, five IDF soldiers have been charged with selling
large quantities of ammunition to the PLO. This crime stinks of a setup.
Perceptive readers, keep your eyes open for any clues as to the truth.
Believe nothing until this ugly frameup is exposed. We'll get there, even
if it takes time.
And time is working on our side in some small ways. Whenever I give a
string of lectures, I meet eye-witnesses, or rather, they seek me out. This
week I learned of still another Shabak agent murdered after the Rabin
assassination. His name was Klein. His family lives in a religious
neighborhood of Jerusalem. I was informed he was shot to death by an Uzi
two weeks after Rabin's murder and the police declared it a suicide. It
wasn't. I have the witnesses.
If ever there is a fair trial to get to the truth of the Rabin
assassination, unlike Raviv's judges, I know who to call.
end
Here's a nice scandal. Meir Meshulum placed 22 documents related to the
Rabin assassination on a major Hebrew forum. For 36 hours they were the
subject of intense discussion...until the Shabak ordered them removed.
Hebrew readers, please visit the following site, look at the reactions and
the missing documents, then plaster the site with complaints.

July 10, 2002 - LAX THREE
So that's how you cover the tracks of a problematic assassination
attempt! Minutes after the July 4 attack at LAX, witnesses described the
shooter as a 52 year old Caucasian, with blonde hair and a pony tail. One
witness was broadcast on the Torah Bits program of Arutz Sheva in Israel,
others worked at the Air Mexicana counter next to El Al. To put an end to
the veracity of the eye-witness testimonies, someone called CNN an hour
after the attack. As one correspondent noted, "I heard the original CNN
broadcast when the whole thing about this "Artie" came up...I heard the
caller LIVE on the TV when the call came in. I knew immediately that it was
a hoax, because I am aware of the source of the joke. I heard the last bit
before it was cut-off, you see, and the person said "Artie Lang..." then
was cut-off, but not before I heard it ( and anyone who was truly listening.)
It would be a good idea to finally ask this Artie Lang if he is so
insensitive and cruel as to call in a hoax when two innocent victims lay
dead on the floor of the LAX international terminal and seven others were
painfully wounded.
But whether he did, and if so someone start the criminal proceedings
already, the witnesses' testimonies preceded the hoax. And they included
lots of policemen. ***
Police declined to give the name or nationality of the gunman although they
knew his identity but they said that they believed he was acting alone. The
gunman was described as white, pony-tailed and aged 52.
The 52-year-old gunman, whose name and nationality
were not released, approached the El Al ticket counter
before noon, Pacific time, and began shooting, Los
Angeles police spokesman Alex Baez said.
: World News
: July 05, 2002
:By Roland Watson and Chris Reed in Los Angeles
: The Los Angeles Police Department said that the
: gunmen was aged 52, but there was no indication of
: his identity, nationality or motive.
*** Since the accused shooter Hadayet was 41 years old and a 41 year old
doesn't look 52, why did officers of the LAPD insist he was 52? How did
they know such a thing and let's add; Why did the LAPD initially describe
this 52 year old as blonde with a pony tail? Is it because all the cops
were watching CNN, heard an obvious hoax and unanimously agreed to play
along with it?
And if there is a huge difference between the LAPD description of
the shooter and Hadeyet's actual age, hairstyle and complexion, let us now
examine problems with the shooter's choice of fashion. ***
LOS ANGELES, July 4 (UPI)
The gunman's identity and his hometown were not
immediately released, but witnesses described him as
middle-aged in a business suit.
The Houston Chronicle (Houston, TX), July 5, 2002 p1
Parkus, in a telephone interview from Los Angeles, said he was standing in
line at the Singapore Airlines ticket counter about 30 feet from the gunman,
who was about 6 feet tall and 225 pounds and was wearing a blue blazer, slacks
and a red tie.
The Parkus brothers said FBI agents interviewed them for hours after the
shooting. Paul Parkus said he took photographs of the dead gunman, but the
airport security staff told him to stop.
Knight-Ridder/Tribune News Service
The 39-year-old Parkus ducked the gunfire, and then held the man's legs while
the guards subdued him.
"I wasn't really thinking," he said hours later, fatigue evident in his voice.
"It was sort of surreal. I couldn't believe what was happening."
Then the man, nicely dressed in a gray sport coat, slacks and a reddish polo
shirt, stopped moving. Parkus knew he was either dying or dead.
On July 6th, the New York Post put the El Al ticket agent, who also
'hosted' passengers to the VIP lounge, on the front of its Metro edition,
and on its website. The article by David K. Li notes that the alleged
shooter, Hesham Mohammed Hedayet, "said nothing before he walked up" to the
ticketing counter and shot Hen to death. Inside the Post, there is a
picture of a man laying on the floor, with a bloody wound: it is difficult
to make out all of the details, but he appears to be wearing blue trousers,
russet-brown shoes and a light pink shirt; he does not appear to be wearing
a coat in that image. How then, did he conceal a Glock .45 and a 9 mm
pistol and extra clips and a large knife?
From the MNSBC website, reporting on July 5th, Hesham is described as
being six feet tall and weighing 230 pounds, wearing a blue blazer and a
red tie. The Post picture of July 6th shows a man without a blazer or a
tie, lying dead.
Hedayet had very short hair, and was definitely not wearing a blue shirt as
the picture of his dead body in the New York Post clearly shows (if, of
course, that is really him).
*** Before we dive into the blatant differences in clothing, let us ask why
we haven't seen any video clips of the attack. We have been told that LAX
security cameras did not film the El Al counter. To that I say, 'What a
load...' But now we know for a fact that Dr. Parkus took some still shots
of the shooter's corpse. Alright already, let's see them. They may explain
why in one interview Parkus has Hadayet wearing a blue blazer and in
another, a gray sport coat.
Another photo of the corpse appeared in the NY Post and it shows
Hadayet wearing a pink shirt. Until now, in this investigation, witnesses
reported that the shooter was wearing only a shirt. There was no blazer or
business suit seen by anyone. The closest call was in Haaretz which
reported witnesses saw the shooter wearing a blue shirt.
But, and this is the most convincing evidence of all so far, Hadayet
is not wearing a jacket in the NY Post photo and his shirt is pink. So who
was wearing the blue shirt or blue blazer? ***
r
A Miami man identified only as "Mr. Park," who was on
his way to Korea, described pandemonium in the area as
passengers hit the deck or bolted for the exits.
"I thought he was running away and the police were
chasing him," Park said.
The gunman, who may have had an accomplice according
to the LAPD, was killed by a security officer with
El-Al.
Los Angeles, July 4 (UPI)
One man, wearing long sideburns and a blue shirt, was
seen being taken away in the back of a police car. His
role in the incident was not revealed.
from: news.com.au
LAPD Lieutenant Horace Franks said two people were in
LAPD custody for questioning.
They were likely to be turned over to the FBI as the
federal agency assumed the lead on the investigation.
*** Now enough of this farce! There was someone else in the terminal and he
was seen being chased by police. Then someone with a blue shirt, and if not
necessarily sporting long blonde hair, at least with long sideburns, was
taken away in an LAPD squad car as a suspected accomplice.
And he wasn't the only one. LAPD Lieutenant Franks reported two
suspects arrested, now presumably, safely in the hands of the FBI.
Let's cut to the chase; WHO WERE THEY?
And; WHY HAVEN'T WE HEARD FROM THEM SINCE?
With those questions in mind, maybe Mrs. Hadayet (Hala el-Awadly) told
the NY Times the truth. ***

people on the Fourth of July at Los Angeles International Airport said
today that she could find no reason for the shooting.
"There is no motive that would make him do such a thing," the woman, Hala
el-Awadly, said in a telephone interview. "He is a quiet person who lived
his life in peace. He carried no hatred for anyone, and he was never
aggressive nor violent, never."
American law enforcement officials have said her husband, Hesham Mohamed
Hadayet, 41, went to the counter of El Al, the Israeli airline, with the
intention to kill people. Carrying two guns and a hunting knife, he killed
two people and wounded several others before a guard shot him dead.
Mrs. Awadly, visiting her family here, said none of the American officials'
potential explanations fit her husband of more than 12 years.
Business at his limousine service had been slow since Sept. 11, she said,
but the family had savings to tide them over. She also described a marital
dispute that sent the police to their house seven years ago as a minor
quarrel for which she was to blame for blowing out of proportion.
She rejected contentions by one of the Syrians who worked briefly for her
husband that her husband hated Jews. The man told reporters that Mr.
Hadayet once told him that Israel was destroying Egypt through exporting
prostitutes with AIDS.
She also dismissed statements by other neighbors that her husband had been
upset that a neighbor flew American and Marine flags from his balcony after
Sept. 11.
"Everyone in the U.S. hangs flags," she said. "We never complained to anyone."
Mrs. Awadly said that in the immediate aftermath of Sept. 11 all Arabs and
Muslims became suspects widely reviled in the United States. But she noted
that nobody had brought any accusations against her husband.
"After Sept. 11, they arrested more people than you could imagine, but he
wasn't even questioned," she said. "Why didn't the neighbors file a
complaint then?"
"The day of the accident, he talked to us, his voice was quiet as usual,"
Mrs. Awadly said. "He asked about the kids and said please make them study
so that they do not forget their English when they return."
***This investigation required an enormous amount of evidence gathering by
my readers. They all did a spectacular job, especially Yitzhak Dorfman and
Linda Pepperdine. However, let us recognize David Miller's impressive
tracking of Shimon Peres' granddaughter. A revealing picture of the
intended victim is found at:
Numerous correspondents noted that Peres apparently got the message and
initiated meetings with the PLO's new finance minister, the aim of which is
to unfreeze $3.5 billion in back taxes the PLO claims Israel owes their
enterprise. ***
Foreign Minister Shimon Peres has resumed his diplomatic talks with PA
leaders. Although Prime Minister Sharon would not let him meet with top
officials considered close to Arafat, Peres will meet with Abdel Razek
Yichye and Salem Fiad, responsible for Interior and Finance, in the coming
day. So reports Itim News Agency in the name of a PA official.
Peres said yesterday that it was a mistake not to have allowed the
formation of a Palestinian state at the beginning of the Oslo process.

July 8, 2002 - MORE LAX
We don't have much time. The El Al counter murders in Los Angeles are
fast being covered up. Two days ago I presented preliminary evidence
suggesting that the "terror" attack, was in fact, a bungled attempt to
assassinate Shimon Peres' granddaughter. Peres inhabits a world of murder,
and he has at least since he organized the Rabin assassination in 1995. His
European circles want Israel to stop existing as a sovereign state and he
was to be their blunt instrument of destruction. But Peres has been
blackmailed over the Rabin murder and he has been mostly neutralized in
Israel. His controllers are most unhappy with what they view as his
betrayal of them and sought to exact vengeance against his beloved grandchild.
A wild scenario? Let us review the evidence two days later.
Translated from the Hebrew:
Arutz Sheva, Friday, July 5
The shooter first took deliberate aim at the El Al hostess behind the
counter, then turned back and shot at those in line.
Witnesses at the scene reported that the shooter did not look Middle
Eastern and he shouted, "Artie took my job, I lost my job."
The FBI added that no employee named Artie had worked recently for El Al in
Los Angeles.
FROM Inyan Mercazi, [www.news-israel.net], a Hebrew website:
PERES' GRANDDAUGHTER WAS BESIDE THE COUNTER AT THE TIME OF THE ATTACK.
Shimon Peres' granddaughter Michal Valden was right beside the El Al
counter at the time of the Los Angeles attack. Valden and her (girl) friend
were arranging to board the flight to Toronto and from there return to
Israel. The moment the attack begin, she called her family in Israel to
report on the incident. So it is no surprise that Shimon Peres was the
first to declare it a terror attack.
LA Attacker Claims Two Lives At El Al Desk (IsraelNN.com)
While FBI officials stated it was too early to know for certain if it was a
terror attack, Israeli security officials stated it was being treated as an
act of terror. Late last night, Foreign Minister Shimon Peres stated with
certainty it was a terror attack.
*** THE DISINFORMATION CAMPAIGN BEGINS AND QUICKLY
ALL early reports of the shooting have a 52 year old caucasian with a
ponytail doing the deed. Since the blame fell on a 41 year old dark
Egyptian named Hesham Mohamed Hadayet, rumors were spread that the reports
about a blonde man doing the shooting came from a caller to CNN who pranked
them. He was making a reference to the Howard Stern Show, and gave a
description of one Jackie "The Jokeman," a former Stern sidekick.
Then it became quickly clear that Hadayet had no criminal background,
was not known to belong to any political organizations and was friendly to
his Jewish neighbors. So a new picture was spread through the highly iffy
Debka.com that not only was Hadayet an active member of Egyptian Jihad, the
group that tried to knock down the World Trade Center in 1990 but was bosom
buddies with the Air Egypt co-pilot who allegedly crashed his passenger jet
into the Atlantic in 1999. My, my, such wide circles.
This morning, Israel radio announced, on top of all this, that Hadayet
was also a member of Hamas. The humble limo driver sure got around, didn't he?
Shall we try to cut through the lies and sort out the truth through
media reports and those of my brilliant correspondents?
From Texas, a diligent researcher has located Dr. David Parkus, who
tried to revive Hadayet:***
OK, I'm trying to figure this incident out:
First, there is only 1 "Parkus" in the Texas Dept. of Public Safety
database of driver's licenses and kevdb.infospace.com
listing of phone numbers:
David Parkus
3985 North St
Beaumont, TX 77706
409-898-1302
(Beaumont is 100 miles east of Houston, on the Louisiana border.
(What was he doing in LA on his way to Israel?
Most Texans go to JFK to connect to El Al.)
Next, why did the Egyptian show up at the airport if he was not anti-Israel?
Could it be that he was hired under the pretense of picking someone up?
Could there really have been a white/blonde pony-tailed man who did the
shooting, and, this limo-driver was setup as the shooter? Were the weapons
planted on him during the wrestling match with the first security guard
while the real shooter left? Was he shot while on the ground to prevent
him from giving his side of the story? Maybe the doctor can give some
details.
Also, you should call Arutz-7's Mordechai Shenker and ask who was the
person he
interviewed, during the Phil Chernovsky Torah Tidbits show, who claimed to
be an on-the-scene eyewitness and saw the blonde, white shooter? I'm really
baffled by this!
***Another correspondent adds yet another witness who saw the blonde
shooter. ***
In case you did not see this and nobody else has told you:
Several hours after the shooting there was a live interview of a security
guard
from the air counter next to El Al, on CNN. They only showed the security
guards hands and torso while being interviewed. Not sure of the exact name of
the airlines, but I believe it was a Mexican airlines. He stated that he
watched
the whole thing and proceeded to tell the story. When asked by the news people
of the attacker's race - nationality, he said these words: "He was white,
Jew or
German . . . . white, Jew or German." (The man must have been obviously
"white"
for him to say this.)
He was very adamant about this description. When the news later showed the
picture of the attacker, his picture was neither obviously Jewish nor German.
Also, I have watched the news over and over on this shooting, and have not
seen
this interview a second time.
***We add two more witnesses. The LAPD first reported the age of the
shooter as 52, while another eye-witness to the ponytailed shooter comes
forward. Note that El Al's security chief has the gunman running toward the
counter gun and knife in hand, while all other witnesses said the shooter
was waiting quietly in line and was fourth from the front when he suddenly
started shooting.***

Gunman kills two in attack on El
Al desk at Los Angeles airport
By Roland Watson and Chris Reed in Los Angeles
The Los Angeles Police Department said that the
gunmen was aged 52, but there was no indication of
his identity, nationality or motive.
Zvi Vapni, the Israeli Deputy Consul General in Los
Angeles, said that Haim Saphir, El Al's chief security
officer at the airport, had encountered the gunman
running toward the El Al counter with a gun and a knife
and ran to stop him. The gunman stabbed Mr Saphir in
the back, and then the guard fatally shot the gunman.
Another witness, Joseph Broesky, who was 20ft away
from the shooting, told a television interviewer: "I heard
a shot and saw this white guy with a pony tail and
overweight. He kept saying: 'Ardy took my job. Ardy took
my job.' " Mr Broesky added: "Then it was really weird
because the gunman started laughing and joking."
*** Haaretz confirms that the shooter waited patiently in line and reports
that he shot twice or three times, in direct contradiction to all early
reports that the shooter got off 10 or 11 shots. Soak in the following
reports before we examine the significance of the number of shots.***
Gunman kills two at LA airport El Al desk
By Ha'aretz Staff and Agencies
According to initial reports, the gunman, described as heavy set, with long
brown hair and wearing a blue shirt, started shooting randomly at the El Al
desk
inside the LAX Tom Bradley International Terminal around 11.30 A.M. local time
(9.30 P.M. Israel time). Some reports said that the man was actually
waiting in
line at the El Al desk and when his turn came, he shouted something at the
clerk and opened fire. One witness reported the gunman shouting: "He took my
job; he took my job."
Witnesses say they heard a short burst of 2-3 shots, followed by 7-8 shots
fired
in response.

Eyewitness: Airport
shooting .
BBC correspondent David Willis, who was at
the airport at the time of the shooting,
described the fear experienced by passengers.
"Evacuated passengers, many of them shaken,
some of them tearful, told me how they hit the
floor as a volley of up to a dozen shots rang
out," he said.
***The story that Hadayet shot 2-3 shots, now being circulated, not only
contradicts eye-witness reports but doesn't add up. Seven people were
wounded in the shooting and one of the two fatalities, 25 year old Victoria
Khen was shot twice. The El Al/Israeli version has Hadayet subdued by El Al
personnel and in the scuffle shot twice. There are no shots by security
personnel before then so Hadayet must have caused the casualties, unless
someone else was also shooting.
The most likely scenario described by the witnesses is that Hadayet
reached short range shooting distance from the counter, pulled out his
pistol and deliberately shot Victoria Khen twice. She was the target.
Standing inches from Khen was a young lady, approximately the same age as
her, Michal Valden. She was supposed to be the target but Khen died as a
result of a tragic mistaken identity.***
FBI: Gunman at Los Angeles Airport was Egyptian national
By Anat Cygielman and Benny Landau, Ha'aretz Correspondents, Ha'aretz
Service and agencies
FBI officials also said that the gunman did not utter words during the
attack, contradicting earlier eye-witness reports that the gunman shouted
"He took my job" during the shooting.
"The sound was distinctive, there were a lot of shots fired then silence
and two more shots," a witness said.
Witnesses: Gunman was former El Al employee
Workers at the Mexicana airline ticketing counter said that the gunman was
a former El Al employee and wore the company's badge during the shooting.
An eye-witness told CNN on Thursday that the gunman shouted "He took my
job" before the shooting.
Earlier, CNN identified the gunman as a 52-year-old male. CNN reported that
despite the fact that the gunman did not have forms of identification on
him, three individual law enforcement officers stated that based on his
physical appearance, it appeared that the gunman was an Arab male.
One person was arrested, police said. The FBI, which is managing the
investigation into the incident, said it was not looking for any other
suspects.
The seven wounded in the attack at the Tom Bradley international terminal
received medical treatment on the scene before being evacauted to hospital.
Two of them were El Al employee, the others were passengers, one of whom
was a woman who was shot in the leg.
FROM Inyan Mercazi, [www.news-israel.net], a Hebrew website:
El Al vigorously denied that Hadayat ever worked for the company or that
they had used his limousine service in recent years. Hadayat's uncle
insisted the shooting was over a business matter and added that his nephew
had recently taken on two Syrian partners for his limousine service.
***Now the contradictions and questions come fast and furious. The police
arrested one man. WHO? Hadayet was dead and supposedly had no accomplices,
so who was arrested? The FBI acknowledged the arrest and added that it was
seeking no other suspects. So where did this suspect disappear to? Has
anyone heard from him since? Could he be a 52 year old blonde with a pony tail?
Witnesses at the Air Mexicana counter next to El Al, reported that
Hadayet had been employed by El Al and was sporting an El Al identity badge
while he was shooting. This led to a denial by El Al that Hadayet was ever
employed by them. But maybe someone else connected to the shooting was.
How else can anyone possibly explain why two groups of witnesses saw
different shooters? One group saw a 52 year old running caucasian shouting
that Artie cost him his job, while the other group saw a perfectly quiet 41
year old Egyptian waiting patiently in line before shooting at Khen behind
the counter.
The only scenario that can explain this is that the blonde man caused
a diversion with his shouting while Hadayet shot his target. Only he got
the wrong young lady.
If Hadayet was wearing an El Al security badge, it would go a long
way to explaining how he parked his limo opposite LAX International and
walked into the terminal in a light short-sleeved shirt which could not
have concealed one automatic pistol, one gun, one six inch knife and two
ammo clips from the trained eyes of the cadres of security personnel on
duty there on July 4th.
Another correspondent reached a similar conclusion before I did.***
Barry,

[could it be the 52-year-old was the "blond in the ponytail", while the
41-yr.-old was the Egyptian?]
Three Dead in Shooting at LAX Airport
Thursday, July 04, 2002
LOS ANGELES - A gunman opened fire Thursday at the El Al airlines ticket
counter in Los Angeles International Airport, killing two people and
wounding three others before being shot dead by an El Al security guard,
according to authorities.
No official motive for the shooting was yet known, but Israeli officials
speculated it was a terrorist attack. There was no indication of terrorism
at this point, an FBI spokesman said.
"This appears to be an isolated incident," FBI special agent Richard Garcia
said. "We have no other suspects we're looking for."
FBI spokesman Matt McGlaughlin said nothing could be ruled out at this
point, however.
The 52-year-old gunman approached someone at the ticket counter and began
firing, police spokesman Alex Baez said. No other details about the shooter
were reported.
The incident began with two bursts of gunfire, separated by silence,
according to witness Thad Weimlein. After the first burst, undercover
police officers drew their guns and badges, Weimlein said.
"A lot of people thought it was fireworks and a prank" at first, according
to Weimlein.
"It's really hard to tell whether he was aiming at the counter, at people
behind the counter or at people in line," another witness, Hakin Hasidh, said.
July 6, 2002 FBI Still Seeks Motive in LAX Shootings
Investigation: Agency has no evidence gunman had terrorist ties but says it
can't be ruled out. With few leads, officials seek public's help.
By ANDREW BLANKSTEIN and JILL LEOVY , TIMES STAFF WRITERS
A day after a 41-year-old Egyptian immigrant walked into Los Angeles
International Airport and killed two people at an El Al ticket counter,
authorities said they had uncovered no evidence that the man had any
connection to organized terrorist groups, or that he had quarreled with
anyone at the airport prior to pulling out his weapons.
Hadayet began firing toward the counter from somewhere in the ticket line,
about 20 feet back, McLaughlin said. He said investigators had concluded
that witness reports of an argument preceding the shots were
unsubstantiated, and they believe the man said nothing before firing.
An unarmed El Al security guard nearby was the first to leap toward him in
an effort to tackle him. This guard grabbed the attacker, who was still
holding his gun, but could not immediately subdue him, and Hadayet was able
to fire more shots.
"He didn't say a single word," recalled one bystander, Orna Yarzin of Los
Angeles, who said the gunman was firing with a deliberate air, aiming and
shooting rather than firing indiscriminately.
The exact sequence of events remains unclear, however, said McLaughlin,
including such details as when bystanders joined the fight and when the
shooter's gun skittered away.
McLaughlin disputed accounts from bystanders that Hadayet had been shot
after being disarmed and held on the ground. The Los Angeles Police
Department also cited contradictory accounts. McLaughlin said authorities
do not know exactly when Hadayet received the fatal shot, or at what range.
Hadayet's uncle Hassan Mostafa Mahfouz said Hadayet's wife and sister had
been picked up by Egyptian intelligence for questioning. FBI officials also
interviewed family members.
A few minutes later, a woman arrived, and shouted at reporters, saying, "I
will not speak to these dogs who have no respect for death!" She would not
identify herself but neighbors said she was Hadayet's wife.
Mahfouz said Hadayet did not belong to any political or religious group.
"He was an average Muslim who prays regularly just like we all do."
"I don't believe what happened," he added. "I don't believe the American
government's reports because they are confusing."
Neighbors at the Woodbridge Pines Apartments described Hadayet as a
devoutly religious man who had somewhat chilly relations with his
non-Muslim neighbors. They said his wife and sons were much friendlier."I
tried to say hi to him when he first moved in and he completely ignored
me," said Pamela Paulson, 51, who lives two apartments away.
"He was stone cold. If he looked at you, he looked right through you."
*** Three of Hadayet's Jewish neighbors Dan Danielevicz , Koby Metzler and
his daughter all reported that Hadayet was friendly and helpful to them.
Since that fact is too inconvenient, a new radical Hadayet had to be
created and another correspondent suggests how it was done.***
I heard that he had a sticker saying "Read the Koran" on his door, but
it was taken off after Sept. 11th. On July 4th it was back on, but was
rather quickly taken off by someone before someone from a newspaper
arrived
He was known to go to..well...to pray not five but seven times
a day - as some relative put it. But not one of four mosques in the Los
Angeles area acknowledged knowing him.
***So the devout, radical Moslem Hadayet may have had a Read The Koran
sticker on his door on July 4, but no one from the media saw it. Not that
reading the Koran is necessarily an extremist position but if Hadayet did
read Islam's holy book, it was not at a mosque in Los Angeles. If he was so
devout, why didn't he attend the prayer services of any mosque?
Hadayet was set up, however it was done, to take the blame for the
murder of Peres' granddaughter Michal Varden and he had a noisy, blonde 52
year old accomplice/handler nearby to guide the crime along.
The FBI is right and Israel is wrong. The shooting at LAX wasn't a
terror act; it was intended to be a cold-blooded execution to teach Shimon
Peres that treachery is costly.***

REVENGE AGAINST PERES THE REASON FOR THE LAX SHOOTING
A long list of violent and powerful people are going after Foreign
Minister Shimon Peres. The July 4th shooting at Los Angeles Airport was a
failed attempt to exact vengeance by murdering his granddaughter.
By bungling the Rabin assassination, Peres has become an easy
target for political blackmail in Israel. A longtime agent of the Vatican
and EU, Peres has been forced to jump ship and support the
CFR/RIIA American/British Middle East agenda.
The Europeans are furious at Peres for his perceived treachery and
incompetence. The French government demanded that all records of its
chicanery with him; like the Rabin assassination, secret diplomacy over
the Golan Heights, the murder of Paris ambassador Eliahu Ben Elissar, the
covert channels to the PFLP and other terror groups, the untold millions
of francs funneled to Peres through Switzerland and the EU etc., be
destroyed and last month an "electrical short" caused a fire to race
through the five storeys of the Israeli embassy, devouring all written
and computer records in its path.
But that wasn't enough. A powerful message was sent to Peres in Los
Angeles that he had better get back on board the European ship.
The first person to declare the shooting at the El Al counter at
Los Angeles International Airport a terror act was Shimon Peres, a
longtime reader wants to know why.
*** What--did Avishai Raviv "beep" Uncle Shimon with the news? The FBI is
declining comment on the dead shooter's ethnicity. An eyewitness account
on Arutz-7's English webcast says the shooter was white, blonde, and
shouting about his lost job.
Wayne

*** That Peres immediately "knew" that the shooting was a terror act,
though that fact hasn't been established positively even days after the
incident, may be telling. But the first descriptions of the shooter may be
even moreso. He was not seen as an Arab by witnesses, but as a blonde
caucasian. The dead Egyptian's father said the same thing to the tv
cameras. He asked why witnesses saw a blonde man with a ponytail do the
shooting, not his son.
Something is rotten in the state of California and there may be
clues in the following AP report of the crime: ***
FBI: Gunman Went to LAX to Kill
Fri Jul 5, 7:48 PM ET
By ANDREW BRIDGES, Associated Press Writer
LOS ANGELES (AP) - The FBI ( news - web sites) said Friday that the
heavily armed Egyptian immigrant who fatally shot two people at the ticket
counter of Israel's national airline had gone to the Los Angeles airport
to kill.
"Why he did that is what we are still trying to determine," FBI special
agent Richard Garcia said.
Hesham Mohamed Hadayet was the fourth person in line at the El Al counter
when he opened fire, authorities said. He fired 10 or 11 bullets before he
was fatally shot himself by an airline security guard, as hundreds of
people dove for cover.
Three other people were wounded, including a guard who was stabbed by
Hadayet as he fought with the wounded gunman. A fourth bystander suffered
heart trouble after the attack.
The shooting could have been a random act of violence or a hate crime,
Garcia said. He said authorities also had not ruled out a number of
potential motives, including terrorism, though Hadayet, 41, was not on any
FBI or federal aviation "watch" lists.
Israeli officials said they would consider the attack an act of terror
unless it was proven otherwise. A source close to Israeli Foreign Minister
Shimon Peres said Peres' granddaughter was in the terminal at the time of
the attack.
Hadayet was armed with a .45-caliber semiautomatic Glock pistol, a 9 mm
handgun and a 6-inch knife, authorities said. The FBI said it wasn't clear
whether he acted alone or why he had drivers' licenses with two last names
- Hadayet and Ali.
The California licenses also had two birth dates - July 4, 1961 and April
7, 1961. Authorities believe the discrepancy was caused when he filled out
his application and wrote 4-7-61 instead of 7-4-61.
Relatives said Hadayet was a Cairo-born accountant who ran a limousine
company out of his Irvine apartment. Hassan Mostafa Mahfouz, who is
married to Hadayet's aunt, said Hadayet had studied commerce at Ain Shams
University in Cairo, and had worked as an accountant in a bank before he
left for the United States in 1992.
"He is a very, very tender person and close to his family," Mahfouz said
in Cairo. He confirmed that Thursday was his nephew's birthday.
Hadayet, his wife and two sons, ages 8 and 11, lived in a small apartment
building in a middle-class section of Orange County. His family had left
for Egypt about a week ago.
Neighbors said Hadayet was quiet, but became angry when an upstairs
neighbor hung large American and Marine Corps flags from a balcony above
his front door after the Sept. 11 attacks.
"He complained about it to the apartment manager. He thought it was being
thrown in his face," neighbor Steve Thompson said.
There was no record of such a complaint, said Rich Elbaum, a spokesman for
The Irvine Co., which owns and manages the complex where Hadayet lived.
The flags were there the day of the shooting. A bumper sticker on
Hadayet's front door that read "Read the Koran" was removed by authorities.
The FBI searched the apartment Thursday night, impounding a Toyota Camry
and carrying away a computer, books, binders and other material. They
refused to say what else the search turned up.
Hadayet's state limousine permit, issued in August 1997, was revoked last
November when he failed to maintain insurance papers on file with the
state, the Public Utilities Commission ( news - web sites) said. Irvine
Police Lt. Dave Freedland said Hadayet had three contacts with the
department since 1996 - all of them "unremarkable."
Kobi Metzler, 44, who lives near Hadayet, said his 16-year-old daughter
recently asked Hadayet about using his limo service to go to her prom.
"She came home and said 'Dad, this guy is so cool,'" Metzler said, adding
that Hadayet offered his daughter a low price.
*** I have been at this same El Al counter at LAX six times in the past
two years. I doubt I could have snuck in a butter knife let alone a
.45-caliber semiautomatic Glock pistol, a 9 mm handgun and a 6-inch knife,
plus lots of ammo. Is it not odd that the shooter did, especially if he
looked Egyptian? El Al security personnel are Shabak-trained to kill
within two seconds of anyone opening fire. So how did Hadayet get off
eleven rounds before being subdued? Having two driver's licenses with two
different birthdates caused by inverting the month and day is
understandable. Having two driver's licenses with two different names is
not. And how terribly convenient that his family left America a week
before the shooting.
Don't you love the touch with the Marine flag flown above his door
and the Read The Koran sticker? At last, we have a motive. Except Hadayet
did not complain to the apartment manager like the neighbors said. It
sure sounds like the unwitting neighbors were set up by rumor.
Now here is where things get sticky. First, Hadayet lived in a
Jewish neighborhood. Kobi Metzler is an Israeli. Neither he nor his
daughter had any compunctions about Hadayet driving the teenager to her
prom. Fine, he wasn't openly a Jew or Israeli hater. But the Metzlers
should have had plenty of compunctions if they knew he was driving
without a license.
The November before, his license was revoked because he didn't keep
up with insurance payments. Now why didn't he pay his insurance and get
the license back? How could he keep offering his limousine services
illegally for 8 months without anyone noticing?
And we return full circle. If the California Public Utilities
Commission took the trouble to investigate his insurance records, why
didn't they ask what he was doing with two driving licenses under two
separate names? If he registered his limo under only one of them, what
exactly was the other license used for?
Why did the witnesses see a blonde man with a pony tail do the
shooting? Could Hadayet have replaced the real hitman, whose target was
very specific? Unless Dr. David Parkus is more than what is reported, it
seems that Hadayet was, in fact, the lone assassin. Consider the
following news report:
***
By David M. Bresnahan July 5, 2002
NewsWithViews.com
LOS ANGELES -- Israel calls the shooting at Los Angeles International
Airport a terrorist event but U.S. investigators say they are unsure.
Egyptian limousine driver Mohamed Hadayet, 41, began shooting people in
front of the El Al airline ticket counter yesterday. A security guard shot
and killed Hadayet. A drivers license found by police listed his birthday
as July 4, 1961, as well as a second birth date.
Los Angeles Police and the F.B.I. are searching for evidence to determine
whether the act was terrorist connected, or just an act of violence.
Israeli officials say the granddaughter of Israeli Foreign Minister Shimon
Peres was in the airport at the time. They believe the gunman was
attempting to locate her when he was frustrated by an El Al ticket agent.
F.B.I. spokesman Matt McLaughlin told reporters that terrorism is not
being ruled out, "but there's nothing to indicate terrorism at this point."
Hadayet, who had a California gun permit, was carrying a Glock 45-caliber
semiautomatic handgun along with an unidentified 9 mm handgun, as well as
a 6-inch knife. In addition he had extra magazines with more ammunition
for both guns -- indicating the attack was thought out and planned in advance.
Dr. David Parkus, a trauma surgeon from Texas was nearby when the shooting
began, according to an Associated Press report.
He said he saw one security guard wrestling with Hadayet, then a second
guard shot him. Parkus said one guard had injuries to his head and was cut
by a knife on the right arm. The second guard was cut on the lower back
and the left thigh, and also had a gunshot wound to the right thigh.
Parkus said he held the gunman as he died, then performed CPR on two
victims, according to AP.
*** The motives for the attempted murder of Peres' grandaughter are
numerous but my first instinct
tells me it may have had something to do with Peres' appointments the same
week of Nissim Zvilli as French ambassador and Avi Primor as EU
ambassador. I have also been informed that Rabin murder suspect Jean
Frydman began a campaign to rule over most French Jewish organizations
during the same period. Could it be that Peres was returning to the
European fold and ticked off the CFR gang? Can anyone help put the pieces

Identifying Your Friendly Shabak Asset
The last sendout, I Caught My Shabak Informer, led to some remarkable
insights by readers. I first met Iris Cohen at a press conference on
behalf of the Kidnapped Yemenite Children of the late 1940s, early '50s.
I later saw her at an outdoor rally on behalf of this cause. She was
casing the Yemenite groups, as one activist confirms: "Maybe Iris Cohen
once went by the name
Ayelet Gvaram? Is she a not-entirely-skinny light brown haired (green
eyes, if i
remember?) and a little freckeled woman in her late twenties (now
thirties)." Yep, that's her.
Other writers claimed that Uri Heitner, once a spokesman for the
Golan Residents Association, is a blatant plant in the conservative
media. In the past he has written against all those who believe and know
that Yitzhak Rabin was murdered in a Shabak plot that included
provocateur Avishai Raviv. This week, in the newspaper Makor Rishon,
Heitner praised the Shabak and wished them a thousand more brave patriots
like Raviv "to root out the scum like Noam Federman." It's a crude tactic
but Heitner is a Shabak media asset after all.
Of Kach leader Federman, one reader noted that two weeks ago he
claimed in Makor Rishon that the Shabak described Rabbi Shlomo Aviner to
him in the foulest of terms. "This week," the observor relates, "Rabbi
Aviner published an article in Hatsofe urging its young readers to join
the Shabak. I don't know why he would do that, but it sure makes you think."
*** Two weeks ago, the roads to Bet Shemesh were blocked while the Shabak
(GSS) and police sought a terror group, they told us, which was planning
to send a suicide bomber into the town. The bomber and his explosives belt
were never found. A reliable informant tells us why. ***
You might have missed the "chase" of your life the other day when
hundreds of army police, civil police and GSS agents went on desperate
red alert to catch the suicide bomber near Beth Shemesh.
Beth Shemesh? What or where is that? Is that a target?
Tipped by GSS chief Avi Dichter himself who received his intelligence
"in real time", army and police moved in to search a much wider area
than the little, ailing, insignificant village of Beth Shemesh. The
target was in fact none other than Emek Haela's Kfar Zacharia (or
Chirbet Zacharia), one, if not the most, sensitive military spot on the
Israeli map. This time the terrorist were after a "grand effect" to
explode a device right in the heart of Israeli nuclear depot, thus
scoring a huge propaganda victory. An Israeli version of September 11.
Beth Shemesh - or even Modiin - itself is a target of no interest to the
terrorists. You know that better than anyone else (by the way, do you
glow at night?:). Nearby though there's a highly strategic nuclear depot
where most of Israeli A-arsenal is kept (allegedly hundreds of Jericho
missiles, N-bombs, etc.) And although detonating a Semtex belt or
similar could not have blasted a nuclear reaction, such an attempt would
have made headlines across the world and show Hamas to be able to hit at
will at the heart of Israel's A-deterrence.
Police searched desperately for hours looking for a car with six
terrorists in it (the suicider + 5 trainers/guides who made certain the
target is located). Eventually it was decided to make a Kol Israel radio
announcement without disclosing the real target, to enroll the public
attention and vigilance and help locate the car. A Mekorot water
engineer spotted the suspect car, and so, on a civilian tipoff, the
police eventually closed in on the car. Policemen seemed to be
completely vexed when they searched it and found no
explosives. Apparently, Hamas headQ also heard the radio announcement
and ordered the unit to abort the mission and dump the explosives.
This is how Israel's most sensitive weapons arsenal is guarded and this
is apparently how easy it is to get to it. Much like the Tel Aviv Glilot
petrol and gas depot which was recently penetrated as well. Its time the
Israeli people wake up and be told what's going on.
Arafat is acting very similarly to Saddam Hussein of Iraq. The more
desperate he becomes and the more calls for his replacement from
Washington, the more desperate measures he'll take. Expect nothing less.
With elections looming in the winter, Arafat will do all to attract
popular "palestinian" support. Like Saddam, he won't bow out quietly. Like
Saddam, if he's forced to go, he'll go with a bang. Dimona for instance
might be next, well within the range of a small Katyusha rocket fired
from the Beer Sheva - Sdom highway. They are firing these in the Gaza
strip already...

My last appeal, then I surrender. One LA synagogue and nearby-LA
organization have invited me to lecture in early September. It doesn't pay
unless at least one more group invites me to speak and chip in on the
expenses. I'm waiting for you.
